Rainy Day Records

The walls are periwinkle; where you can actually see them that is. There may be a law about posting on street-lamps, but the Olympia music scene, the posters that herald it, and the artists and fans who consume and appreciate it are alive and well here.

LP's, album covers, skateboards, band t-shirts, handmade and mass produced posters cover the walls and ceiling, and greet the curious passerby on Franklin and Fifth who happen to wander into Rainy Day Records, a musical Mecca for the Olympia music scene for the past 37 years.

Everything from Elvis to Maroon 5’s latest album, or the unique up-and-coming local artist from K-Records, the still factory-sealed to much-loved and donated. Rainy Day has something for every music consumer, and if you happen to be a niche music consumer, you may be fortunate enough to find something of interest in their hard-sell 98-cent bin.

So whether you are stopping in to buy a record, rent a movie, browse, or just walking by to check out the new releases on the 5th Ave board, or upcoming events and venues plastered on the Franklin street window, Rainy Day Records is a necessary first stop in your tour expanding your musical education, and understanding of the Olympia music scene.
